KPH doctors' lounge gets makeover from Supreme Ventures Foundation

SUPREME Ventures Foundation (SVF) has officially unveiled the newly refurbished doctors’ lounges at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

The project, valued at $13 million, was done through funds donated by SVF in December 2021 to upgrade the administrative office, lounge and call-room facilities of the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Kingston Public and Victoria Jubilee hospitals.

SVF director Heather Goldson reacted positively to the upgraded rooms and reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to improving working conditions for the staff at KPH.

โ€œThe transformation of these spaces is amazing. We at Supreme Ventures Foundation are very pleased to have contributed to this well needed and well executed renovation of the staff lounges at the KPH.

โ€œUnder normal circumstances our health-care workers are under tremendous pressure and the past two years have ramped that up exponentially. This improvement should contribute greatly to helping them to properly recharge and manage their immense workload,โ€ said Goldson.

During the tour of the renovated spaces, Dr Garth McDonald, senior medical officer at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, expressed his gratitude to SVL Foundation.

โ€œUpgrading the staff lounge is something we had wanted to do for a while but could not accomplish due to limited resources. On behalf of the staff, and even the patients who will benefit from having a refreshed and rested medical team addressing their health concerns, I must express gratitude to Supreme Ventures team for stepping up and making this well needed renovation a reality. I’m very pleased with the results as it is even better than we envisioned,โ€ said McDonald.

The donation formed part of the foundation’s continued efforts to aid in the improvement of the country’s health-care sector.

Recently SVF donated four oxygen concentrators to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). This is in addition to the donation of a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to the UHWI in 2021 and further commitments to upgrade the equipment at the neonatal intensive care unit.

SVF donates four oxygen concentrators to UHWI

The Supreme Ventures Foundation (SVF) has reaffirmed its commitment to national health with a donation of four oxygen concentrators to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).

The devices will assist the medical staff in providing adequate oxygen for patients who have difficulties breathing due to conditions like asthma, lung cancer, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Covid-19.

UHWI Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr. Phillip Barrow says the donation will improve the hospitalโ€™s oxygen services. He was speaking at the handover ceremony last week Wednesday.

โ€œWeโ€™re very grateful to Supreme Ventures for this donation. Oxygen concentrators will be a significant addition to our arsenal. They provide an unlimited supply of oxygen thatโ€™s completely independent of any outside source so it is a welcome addition to our resources,โ€ he said.

SVF Director, Heather Goldson says the Foundation will continue working with medical facilities to provide the necessary support to the countryโ€™s health system as it grapples with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

โ€œWeโ€™re always happy to support our doctors and nurses who are currently facing an unprecedented challenge. These oxygen concentrators will be an asset to the medical team and will play a major role in saving so many lives. We look forward to continuing this work as the year continues, โ€ she said.

UHWI has been the recipient of several donations from the Foundation. Last year, SVF donated approximately $15M to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) andย  a mobile Ultrasound Machine to the Diagnostic Department.

SURE BET! Supreme Ventures on board to take gymnastics to next Olympics

Dwayne Richards โ€“ Jamaica Observer โ€“ February 18, 2022

Supremeย Ventures recently announced that they will be providing support to Jamaica’s national gymnastics programme for the next three years.

The announcement was made last weekend, just one week before the start of the newly renamed Supreme Ventures Gymnastics Classic 2022, which takes place Saturday and Sunday.

Speaking at the press conference at Jamaica Gymnastics headquarters, Supreme Ventures Corporate Communications and Public Relations Manager Chloleen Daley-Muschett surprised Jamaica Gymnastics President Nicole Grant-Brown and the audience with the news that their partnership would not be for one, but for three years.

โ€œSupreme Ventures is proud to support this vision and it is our distinct pleasure to vault into the sport of gymnastics by virtue of our expanded three-year sponsorship of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA).

โ€œThe spectacular athleticism and beauty of the sport of gymnastics is a pleasure to witness, and we hope that this exhibition will inspire and educate these young gymnasts to become world championsโ€“ climbing even higher than the high standard set by Jamaica’s Olympians Toni-Ann Williams and Danusia Francis,โ€ she said.

Daley-Muschett says that she envisions Jamaica becoming a powerhouse in gymnastics in much the same way as they are in track and field, which Supreme Ventures has been supporting for many, many years.

โ€œThere is no reason why Jamaica cannot also become a powerhouse in the sport of gymnastics, we have the talent, we have the drive and we have an endless supply of passion. Jamaica is coming along on that journey as we become accustomed to our athletics programmes expanding to include sports that we are not as accustomed to as others,โ€ she said.

A delighted Grant-Brown thanked the JOA for establishing the partnership between Jamaica Gymnastics and Supreme Ventures.

โ€œWe are happy and elated that the vision of the Jamaica Olympic Association is wide enough to recognise that sports is important for the development of our country and have put so much effort in helping the sport of gymnastics to grow by marrying us with a partnership of this nature.

โ€œSupreme Ventures, we thank you for providing such well-needed resources at this stage of our development. It shows that you are one to work with sports in Jamaica from the beginning and not just when they are on top.

โ€œWe want to be Jamaica’s most consistent Olympics sports and most participated by our youth in this country and we cannot do it without companies like yours,โ€ she said.

Grant-Brown wants to see the sport introduced to children at a very early age as it can help with their development in other sports as well.

โ€œIt is important to note that gymnastics is the foundation for all sports and one of our goals is to incorporate the sport in the schools’ curriculum from kindergarten to grade nine as it is done in other Caribbean countries. โ€œThis is to enable the development of not just gymnastics but other sport as it enables and quickly develop motor skills, discipline and a strong and flexible body which is needed in all sports and that’s what gymnastics is about.โ€

The two-day National Championships will take place this Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:00 am each day.

The event brings together over 100 gymnasts from all affiliated clubs in Jamaica as well as interest from overseas and national aspirants whose desire is to compete for Jamaica.

This year there are competitors from the USA, Canada, the UK, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica. All will showcase their skills in a friendly, competitive environment where all covid protocols are and will be observed.

The sponsorship from Supreme Ventures has enabled the association to add two much-needed judges to now include four highly qualified judges as part of the competition to properly judge and assess the athletes at the highest standard.

$75 million Lotto jackpot winner plans to pay off mother's mortgage

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica โ€” The newest Lotto millionaire is counting his win as a blessing as he says he plans to use his money to transform the lives of his immediate family members.

Mr Mckenzie bought the winning ticket at Liz’s Lotto in Portmore, St Catherine on December 8 to secure a $75 million payout.

The winning numbers were 12, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 30.

McKenzie said he wants to use his winnings to transform the lives of his loved ones and revealed that paying off his mother’s mortgage will be among the number of personal issues he plans to address.

โ€œI want to make life comfortable for me and my immediate family. I want to make life a little different for the people closest to me. Make things easier,โ€ he said while sharing how those closest to him helped him nab the $75 million.

โ€œMost of the numbers, well some of them, are a combination of numbers having to do with people that are important in my life like their date of birth etc. They mean something to me.โ€

In a release from Supreme Ventures, McKenzie encouraged his fellow gamers to remain optimistic about their chances of winning.

โ€œBased on my attitude and drive, I have always felt like I would get somewhere based on my ambition. But never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would win. I just knew it was possible. So the only thing I can really say is to maintain a positive attitude and mind and see where it goes. You can never tell but dreams do come true,โ€ he said.

In the meantime, Supreme Ventures says it is proud to continue transforming the lives of regular Jamaican citizens and making winners every day through all its games.
