Neville Graham – Jamaica Gleaner – September 11, 2022
Gaming and entertainment company Supreme Ventures Limited, SVL, has secured global certification for its mobile gaming platform from the Gaming Laboratories International, GLI, CEO of SVL subsidiary, Prime Sports, Xesus Johnston, has said.
He likens the GLI standard for gaming to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality management certification.
“This effectively means that we check all the boxes and our software can be deployed anywhere in the world,” Johnston told the Financial Gleaner, adding that SVL can now offer its mobile gaming platform as a service to other operators.
In a release to the Jamaica Stock Exchange, SVL said the application software comprises original technology that is the intellectual property of SVL. This, the company noted, makes SVL one of only two companies in the Caribbean region to be GLI certified. SVL’s backbone gaming platform is provided by UK-based multinational International Game Technology, IGT PLC, formerly Gtech SpA and Lottomatica SpA. Johnston says there are no plans to displace IGT but that certification for its mobile platform means that SVL can continue to grow through innovation.
Johnston informed that the system is now being used in Guyana, where the mobile gaming platform will allow SVL customers to place wagers on a number of games via a mobile app and web application. He declined to say what the future plans are for the software.
According to Prime Sports CEO, the certification represents a technological milestone for SVL and ensures that its core lottery and gaming businesses are continually developing and evolving.
“Most platforms used in the world are not GLI certified. At the same time most regulated markets require either GLI or Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM) certification. That’s an opening right there,” Johnston said of the possibilities for more business.
