Second location planned for 2019
By Karena Bennett – Jamaica Observer – December 4, 2018
Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) will open the doors to its Betting Shop Lounge in Georgetown, Guyana, during the week of December 8 to 16, before opening a second location in 2019.
The update on the company’s planned operation in Guyana was posted on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Last month, SVL released information that it was getting ready to start operations in Guyana after signing off on an agreement with the Guyana Gaming Authority in March.
According to SVL, phase one of the operation which begins this month, will see the betting company rolling out its wagering on horse racing and sport-themed video gaming products.
The company remains tight-lipped on the details on other aspects of its plans but investors still await news on the strategies the company will be employing to secure market share from Guyana’s Princess Hotel and Casino and affiliate of the Canadian Bank Note Company, Guyana Lottery.
Last year was a year of significant growth for Supreme Ventures.
The first quarter of 2017 started with the acquisition of the operations of Caymanas Park, which saw the group effectively investing some $1.2 billion in assets into the Caymanas operations. According to Supreme Ventures Group President & CEO Ann-Dawn Young Sang, revenues from all components of the group’s horse racing business are showing an upward trend, while the group’s non-horse racing segment were strong with year-over-year revenues and segment results growing by approximately 15 per cent and 18 per cent respectively.
The group reported record revenues of approximately $56 billion, representing a 25 per cent increase over 2016.
“This, combined with an effective cost management programme, resulted in a 44 per cent increase in profit from operations, which surpassed the $2 billion mark,” Young Sang said.
SVL’s 2017 net profit of approximately $1.2 billion represents a 1.6 per cent increase over 2016, due to the impact of just over $471 million in non-cash and non-routine one-off impairment adjustments to reflect realistic valuations for the company’s VLT licences and investment properties.

SVL Donates $650,000 to Gift of Love Foundation
Days after its recently concluded back-to-school outreach, #SimplyVestedInLove, Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) has donated more than half a million dollars in vouchers to a local charitable organisation, Gift of Love Foundation, to assist students of Nine Turns Basic School, Clarendon.
The donation, valuing $650,000, was made recently at the school to one of the founders of Gift of Love, Ayesha Allen, while students, parents and teachers looked on.
Supreme Ventures reached out to the Gift of Love Foundation after hearing about their work with the school, which focused mainly on buying shoes and other items for each of the 35 students. Having just assisted more than 200 students with more than $2 million in back-to-school assistance through its #SimplyVestedInLove programme, Supreme Ventures was more than willing to assist the Gift of Love Foundation in this effort.
SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS
SVL’s assistant vice-president for group corporate communications, Simone Clarke-Cooper, says there were many similarities between Gift of Love and #SimplyVestedinLove which made the synergy a natural one.
“What drew us to the Gift of Love Foundation was the way they focused on performing small acts of kindness to make a big difference in the lives of the children of Nine Turns. #SimplyVestedInLove shares this philosophy. When we saw what Ayesha was trying to do, we were moved to support the efforts at the school,” Clarke-Cooper said.
The assistance given to the Gift of Love included vouchers that will allow for the procurement of stationery, books and any other items needed for students and the school for the next two years.
“This is the biggest donation we have received so far. We really appreciate it, and to know that it is something long term and can sustain them for a good period of time, is very important to us,” Allen said.
In a similar fashion to the online-based #SimplyVestedinLove, Allen explained that the Gift of Love Foundation accepts nominations through its Facebook page from persons who are seeking help for others in their community,
“We had a call for nominations on our social media and we asked persons to nominate schools that they thought would need assistance, and we specified rural schools. Based on all the nominations we received, we chose Nine Turns Basic School. The children are so smart, so I’m so glad we chose them so they can get the assistance they need to further their education,” she said.
Part of the assistance Supreme Ventures has provided to Nine Turns Basic School and the Gift of Love Foundation directly relates to their shoe drive for the new school year.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) on Thursday donated $5 million to St Catherine High School for the building of a new state-of-the-art auditorium.
A small delegation from SVL, headed by chief marketing officer Heather Goldson, presented the contribution to school principal, Marlon Campbell and other members of the school executive and building committee. The handover was made in Pascal Hall, which now functions as the school’s main assembly point.
Past President of the St Catherine High Alumni Association and member of the building committee, Dr Oniel Mundle said the new facility will seat 800 students with a stage, changing rooms, restrooms and a mezzanine.
In addition to fostering the performing arts, the facility will host school functions and will be available to serve the wider Spanish Town area, SVL said in a release yesterday.
“Spanish Town currently does not have a space for the performing arts. There is nowhere to host a play or any other performance, but this auditorium will fill that need for the community as well as the school. We still have a little way to go but this [donation] is a major chunk of the funds we needed,” Mundle said.
The project, which is slated for completion in December 2019 has received the assistance of various donors, including the CHASE Fund, which threw its hat in the ring first with a donation of $50 million.

The Diamond Mile is about Fashion, New Patrons, Excitement
Racing Guide – Jamaica Observer – Friday, November 30, 2018
The Diamond Mile, sponsored by the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission and Supreme Ventures Limited, offers different strokes for different folks.
Some people are totally immersed in the racing component while others are captivated by the food and or fashion.
For marketing assistant at the promoting company, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), Kimberlee Sharpe, it is about the fashion statements made on Diamond Mile Day, a long but rewarding day.
“I am very excited that Diamond Mile Day is finally here. I feel like the punters, the trainers, the owners and all those people who are looking forward to the event.
“It is a level of excitement that you can’t really explain. You just wait on the day to come to see what happens.
“I am excited about the fashion that will come out because it is always like a fashion show. It is a live fashion show for me, that’s what it is,” a very excited Sharpe said.
On the Diamond Mile Race Day there are more races than on an average day, which means more work for SVREL team-members.
“There are more races; it is more work and it is a long day. Last year, it happened so quickly, it was like “Oh, the day’s done”. It is more work but the excitement overpowers the work,” Sharpe revealed.
Sharpe then explained what her job encompasses.
“My section is the winners’ enclosure where I deal with the presentation ceremonies. I prepare for the day by ensuring that all the trophies are present for all the races and that the presenters are aware of the time when they should be presenting, so we can have smooth presentations on the day.
“I have been doing this for a year and more and it has soaked in and I enjoy what I am doing,” she admitted.
Sharpe then offered her strong backing for the Diamond Mile Race Day.
“The Diamond Mile Race Day brings new people, new customers, new patrons and they bring a level to it as well, plus they use fashion to grab people in or to the sport. People are aware that the sport is there but are not aware that the sport is so exciting and that’s what the Diamond Mile is doing, grabbing the interest of the people.
“From a marketing point of view, some of the plans are to have the ‘You’re The Owner’ promotion continuing as our girls in their jockey outfits will be selling tickets. We have our mobile betting, Mbet and we have gone live and we are hoping to introduce new patrons to it, getting them involved.
“We are hoping to have more people coming in on the day from all over. The North Lounge should be food inclusive so that’s a pop. It is going to be a great day,” said Sharpe.

SVREL Signs New Broadcast Partner
The Gleaner – Wednesday, November 28, 2018
Local Caymanas Park race- day broadcasts will have a modern look and feel come Saturday, December 1, as a result of a new partnership agreement between Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Ltd (SVREL) and media company, SportsMax, that will see SportsMax handling SVREL’s production needs. The revamped broadcasts will kick off on the highly anticipated Diamond Mile race day.
According to Peter Green, director of marketing, SVREL, the unveiling of the new feed on the most prestigious race Day in Jamaica and the region was a deliberate move. “The Diamond Mile elevates the horseracing experience and is the perfect day for us to show the elevated look and feel of the production of our signal from here on. The new-look feed will provide punters at the track and at OTBs(off-track betting parlours) islandwide with real-time broadcasts from Caymanas Park”, he said.
Green explained that in addition to improving the quality of the overall broadcast to local viewers, the new deal also comes with positive revenue implications, affording SVREL the opportunity to export its signal to other areas of the Caribbean, North America, UK, Asia, and Africa, not only opening the races to a new pool of bettors, but providing unprecedented value to sponsors to be seen in new markets.
