A Jamaican man claimed his J$301.5 million Super Lotto prize wearing a Black Panther costume on Friday.

Gaming company Supreme Ventures welcomed the latest member to its ‘super millionaire’ club with the recent handover of the jackpot to the man it only identified as G Samuels.

Samuels purchased his lucky J$300 Quick Pick ticket from the Lotto Super Store in Clock Tower plaza in St Andrew. He’s one of two Jamaican winners of the multi-jurisdictional game in 2020, having won with the numbers 03, 14, 25, 33, 35 and Super Ball 02 for draw #1159.

In line with the trend of lottery winners collecting their prize in disguise to protect their privacy, Samuels showed up at the handover ceremony wearing a Black Panther costume. He said he has been playing Lotto for 19 years and has always had faith that he would win.[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”5061″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]Samuels aims to use his massive pay day to kick back and relax for the foreseeable future.

“I didn’t really have any particular goal in mind. I just wanted to win enough money so I could retire and buy a house and a car. Now I am able to do way more than that and I’m excited about all the things I can do with my winnings,” he said.

Samuels, who purchased his Super Lotto ticket days in advance, says he went to his usual haunt to buy Cash Pot when, in checking his tickets, he found out that he won a whopping $301.5 million in the Super Lotto.

Chief Marketing Officer for Supreme Ventures, Heather Goldson said making two Super Lotto millionaires in 2020 was a bright spot in a gloomy year.

Supreme Ventures has launched its latest sales channel, Supa Sellaz, which will provide expanded reach for the company’s over 1200 retail terminals across Jamaica.
While the novel coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on the small and micro-business engines that power the Jamaican economy, Supreme has developed advanced technology that enables a new gaming sales channel that will potentially provide thousands of jobs for micro entrepreneurs.
The new channel literally takes gaming “to the streets”, a first by any company in this hemisphere, allowing SVL retailers to move beyond the doors of their brick and mortar establishments and provide Jamaica’s favourite games to their customers while they are on the move. The channel will expand the company’s sales network to remote areas and service rural communities.
COVID-19 has brought home the global importance of mobile-enabled sales, and Jamaica will need to keep up with the wave of the future. The new Supa Sellaz technology will enable individuals to become their own bosses, while increasing revenue at the retail store level. Each “Sella” will be equipped with their own mobile sales device and ticket printer enabling them to sell Cash Pot within a designated geographic area.

Former Deputy Chairman of Supreme Ventures Limited, Ian Levy has been bestowed with the title of Director Emeritus by the group of companies.
The title was conferred upon the founding board member during a star-studded breakfast on Tuesday, December 15 with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Finance Minister Nigel Clarke among the guests at the luxe AC Hotel boardroom.
Supreme Ventures Chairman, Gary Peart said the designation was a fitting tribute to Levy who had contributed so much to the country’s first privately owned gaming operation and who also made major contributions to Jamaica’s current economic landscape.
“Mr Levy as one of the founding directors of Supreme Ventures has made such a great impact on the company and on Jamaica and this honour is just a small token compared to what he has given to us as a company and a nation. While we want him to enjoy his well-deserved retirement, we know that he will always be close to Supreme Ventures and is just a phone call away if we should ever need his wisdom,” he said.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Andrew Holness commended Levy’s long track record of creating and pursuing new business opportunities and therefore his “legacy of service must remain a hallmark of Supreme Ventures Limited and all its subsidiary companies even after his retirement,” he noted.
Levy attributed his stellar career in business to his desire to constantly think outside the box.
“I don’t strive to fit in. I am constantly seeking new frontiers and new challenges, and to succeed in business or any endeavour one must always consistently push at the boundaries. I’m always swimming upstream and it has paid off, not just for myself and my enterprises but for Jamaica and the gaming industry,” he said.
Levy received the National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite) from the Government of France in June 2005. He was also awarded an Order of Distinction (Officer Class) in 2012 and an Order of Distinction (Commander Class) in 2016 by the Jamaican Government. The awards stemmed from his work with several French companies on behalf of the government through his company IAN K (Agencies) Ltd.
Levy announced his retirement effective July 11 of this year in accordance with the retirement age for directors as stipulated in the company’s Board Charter. He has also retired as a director of all subsidiary companies within the group on which he served.
As one of the founding members of SVL, Levy has served as a member of the board in many capacities since January 2, 1998.

Executive Chairman of Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) Gary Peart believes that his company’s combined $25.3 million sponsorship of the Supreme Championship Boxing Day weekend race meets is a clear indication of their commitment to the local racing industry.
SVL and its subsidiary, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited’s (SVREL), yesterday announced a joint sponsorship package for the December 26 and 27 race meets’ purse in a move that has been welcomed by stakeholders, including champion trainer Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes.
Peart, who shared the news during a press conference, which was held at Caymanas Park yesterday, underlined that the gaming company was determined to continue to demonstrate its commitment to the local racing product in the years to come.
“This weekend is extra special for us at Supreme Ventures because not only is it a testament to our love for the sport of horse racing, but also a testament to our commitment to the industry, its stakeholders and its future,” said Peart.
Meanwhile, Nunes, who is on course to secure his second straight trainer’s title, was thrilled with the announcement and believes it will energise the industry in light of the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic over the past few months.

YEAR END GIFT DESPITE COVID

“It is fantastic for racing because we are very fortunate that in a COVID-19 year we even have racing, and for us to be rewarded at the end of the year with some increased purse, it heartens me and makes me feel good about the industry,” said Nunes.
“I anticipate that everybody will have some nice horses running. I think when you have increased purses, then you automatically have competitive races because everybody wants to be a part of it, and everybody wants to go home earning that little extra,” Nunes added.
General Manager of SVREL Lorna Gooden is also looking forward to an exciting weekend of racing.
“I am very excited, and I am hoping that the horsemen will turn in a great number of horses to participate in the races because we have topped up the undercard by $100,000, in addition to the big purses for the feature races,” Gooden shared.
“We are also very excited that the punters will be happy about the horses that will be participating and come out and place their bets with us,” she said.
The weekend will run off on Boxing Day with the feature Ian Levy Cup, with purse money of $4.5 million, with $100,000 being added for each undercard.
Sunday will feature the SVL Jamaica 2-Year-Old Stakes with a $4 million purse as well as the Chris Armond Sprint, which will be run over five and half furlongs for graded stakes and open allowance horses. This event will carry purse money of $2.5 million, and each undercard will have $100,000 added to its purse.
