Kingston, Jamaica — April 23, 2025— For the first time ever, Jamaican horse racing fans can place bets on the world-renowned Kentucky Derby, thanks to an exciting new partnership between Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) and Churchill Downs Racetrack. The historic move makes SVREL the first local promoting company to offer wagering on this premier international event, signaling a major step forward for the country’s racing and betting landscape.
Widely known as “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” the Kentucky Derby is one of the most prestigious races on the global calendar. The addition of the Kentucky Derby to the list of the races simulcast at Caymanas Park, completes the American Triple Crown series as the broadcast content currently includes the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Other noteworthy events in North America simulcast at the Park include the Breeders’ Cup and the Pegasus World Cup, among others.
The expansion of the simulcast offering to include the Kentucky Derby reflects SVREL’s continued commitment to modernizing the horse racing experience in Jamaica by integrating international race content, adopting advanced technologies, and expanding access to global events.
“SVREL was inspired by the desire to enhance the customer experience and expand betting opportunities,” said SVREL VP Operations Christopher Wills. “Offering wagers on international races like the Kentucky Derby helps bring the global stage to Jamaica, an exciting, modern development for local fans.”
By combining local passion with international prestige, SVREL believes this partnership with CDI to broadcast the Kentucky Derby will attract new generations of fans, especially younger audiences who may not have previously engaged with local races. “This move represents a bold and progressive shift. It not only brings diversity to the local betting landscape, but also aligns with our broader vision to grow and innovate the sport of horse racing right here in Jamaica. Global thoroughbred racing captivates a wide and diverse audience,” added Wills. “By merging that energy with Jamaica’s love for racing, we’re creating a new kind of excitement, one that blends tradition with innovation.”
To celebrate the inaugural broadcast of the Derby, SVREL will be hosting a watch party and offering punters a series of exciting wagering promotions giving them even more chances to win big during Derby weekend. Fans are encouraged to explore wagering options through the SV Games app, visit Caymanas Park, or stop by any Off-Track Betting (OTB) location islandwide to be part of this landmark event.
